About our Programme

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has a long-standing commitment to serving the community and improving the quality of life of Hong Kong people. In March 2011, the Members’ CARE@hkjc programme was established to provide Members with a platform to contribute to the community. Through actively serving those in need, it is hoped that Members will find the volunteer experience deeply rewarding.

The Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team currently has 1,050 members and has contributed more than 17,000 service hours since its establishment. The team is committed to serving different underprivileged communities in Hong Kong and meeting the specific needs of local target groups. Our service targets include elderly and young people, as well as children who are registered with different local non-government organisations. We have worked with various organisations such as Hong Chi Association, St. James' Settlement, Caritas, the Heep Hong Society and the Hong Kong Guide Dog Association.

To prepare team members for the various volunteer activities, the Programme provides orientation sessions as well as periodic volunteer service training so that members can make the most of their interactions with different service targets. Other activities include handicraft sessions where members would prepare small, handmade gifts for the service targets; elderly home visits and gatherings; festive parties; and visits to educational venues such as riding schools and heritage trails.

We hope that these varied activities will enable Members to not only contribute to society, but also gain insight into the many facets of volunteering – from education and heritage awareness to promoting healthy living. We look forward to organising more types of volunteer activities to serve even more people in need.
