LEEUWIN ESTATE WINE DINNER
The Art of Wine

In 1969, Denis and Trish Horgan bought a former dairy farm in the Margaret River area, just as experts identified the area as a potentially great wine growing region. The untouched dairy farm became, with a little help from the famous Robert Mondavi, one of the most highly regarded Australian wineries in the world. Mondavi advised the Horgans and suggested they plant Chardonnay, at that time a rare variety in Australia. This led to Leeuwin Estate’s most iconic wine, the Art Series Chardonnay, a beacon to other producers in the region, helping to show that Margaret River could make wines to rival the best in the world.

Still an estate-based, family-owned winery, Leeuwin Estate continues to produce some of the finest wines from the Margaret River region. The “Art Series”, identified by label paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists, represents what the Horgan Family consider Leeuwin’s most opulent and age-worthy wines.

The guest of honour at this special dinner, pairing the "Art Series" with creative dishes from Chief Cook Chan Lap-sun, will be Leeuwin Estate Chief Executive Officer Simone Furlong herself, a marvelous opportunity. The Margaret River pioneer will introduce Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines from vintages between 2004 and 2014.
