The winemakers of Parés Baltà want the world to know that there is more to Spanish wine than heavily oaked Rioja. At this seven-wine, five-course dinner, Maxime Bazart from the winery will present varieties from three different regions. The wines use little or no oak; they are purposefully left "naked" to fully reveal the terroirs beneath.
Guests will be greeted with the Parés Baltà Cava Rosa Cusiné, while the dinner will begin with the Gewürztraminer-style Parés Baltà Ginesta 2013 followed by the Parés Baltà "Electio" 2010, 100% Xarel-lo and barrel-fermented. At the main course, the aromatically complex Parés Baltà "Hisenda Miret" 2010 will be served, along with Dominio Romano Ribera Del Duero 2011.
A fresh Priorat with a harmonious expression of minerals and fruits, Gratavinum 2πr Priorat 2010 leads the way to the fourth course, and the meal is rounded out with a not-too-sweet dessert complemented by the late-harvest Parés Baltà Honeymoon 2012, with its intense nose of delicate orange flowers, white pears and apricots.
This is a superb opportunity to discover another side of Spanish wines that go particularly well with warmer weather cuisine.
