The Joseph Phelps Wines story began in 1973, when Phelps bought a former cattle ranch to realise his dream of creating great Napa Valley wines. Four decades later, the wines are recognised for their quality as well as the creativity and attention to detail that go into their making. Insignia, their flagship wine, is recognised as one of the world's best, with 33 of 39 vintages rated at 90 or more points by wine experts, including 2005, 2009 and 2012 vintages.

Members will be welcomed with a delightful 2014 Sauvignon Blanc. Two intriguing wines from their Freestone Vineyard follow: Grapes for the 2013 Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast and the 2013 Pinot Noir are hand picked by artificial light before dawn. A 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is then followed by a vertical tasting of three Insignia vintages: 2005, 2009 and 2012. The 2014 Eisrébe, their take on the classic eiswein, will be served with dessert.
