Marco De Bartoli, established in 1978, is perhaps the most iconic name in Sicilian winemaking, known for reviving Marsala as a fine, artisanal wine and for bringing renewed attention to the Passito di Pantelleria, the legendary Rarities, the “nectar of the gods”.
The dinner will be led by Sebastiano De Bartoli, Marco’s son and features wines beyond red, white and sweet, de Bartoli’s two wineries in Contrada Samperi in Marsala and Contrada Bukkuram in Pantelleria, an island off Sicily.
One of the two rarities served at the dinner will be De Bartoli’s “real Marsala”: an unfortified, rare “Vergine” which naturally reaches 18% alcohol through the Solera method. The fourth course will see the superb “Vecchio Samperi Ventennale” Sicilia IGT NV. The dinner will end with the legendary sweet Passito, Bukkuram, “father of the vine” in Arabic, made from the ancient Zibibbo grape, originally from Egypt.
The five-course dinner will be crafted by the new Chef de Cuisine at The Racing Club, Chef CLing Chan. Please plan to make your reservations soon.
