Château Lafite Rothschild is arguably the most famous red wine in the world and a must-have in every collector’s cellar. This extraordinary dinner will showcase three special vintages of Château Lafite Rothschild (1978, 1983 and 1995) plus their second wine, Carruades de Lafite 2008, all offered in the ex-château magnum format. Making this event even more special will be the presence of Domaines de Baron Rothschild President and CEO Christophe Salin, the guest of honour for the evening. For the proper finishing touch, the superb aged Sauternes from Château Rieussac 1975, also from the Magnum bottle format, will be served with dessert.
The first known reference to Lafite dates to 1234. The estate’s vines are comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The terroir is a mosaic of gravel with sand, clay, marl and limestone, which gives Lafite its quintessential Pauillac keynotes. Members will also have the rarest opportunity to purchase the 1982 vintage sourced from ex-château, one of the greatest vintages of the 20th century in Bordeaux. Very, very early reservations are recommended.
