Closure of Happy Valley Old and New Clubhouses from Tuesday, 24 November to Thursday, 26 November (issued Monday, 23 November)
The management of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Happy Valley Clubhouse has received four separate positive COVID-19 reports directly from Members late last night (22 November) and today (23 November). Based on our initial investigation, the Members concerned have most recently visited the Valley Pool, 2/F Changing Rooms (19 November), The Rock (19 November) and The Eighth (during a preview operation – 15 November) at the New Clubhouse and the Six Furlong and The Gallop (11 November) at the Old Clubhouse respectively.
To put the safety of our Members, guests and employees as top priority, we have immediately closed the Valley Pool, Tennis Courts and 2/F Changing Rooms at 7pm this evening, to be followed by the full closure of both the Old and New Clubhouses for three days from Tuesday 24 November to Thursday 26 November.
This is a necessary arrangement for us to further establish the movements of the persons concerned on the Happy Valley Clubhouse premises and to complete identification of Members and employees who have been in contact with the concerned persons. The Club is arranging those identified employees for COVID-19 testing. In addition, we will continue to reach out to those Members who have come into contact with those confirmed patients in a timely manner.
As our established practice, the Clubhouse facilities are cleaned and disinfected every hour with deep cleansing being done after business hours on a daily basis.
We would like to remind Members as per our notice issued yesterday not to use any Club facilities if they have accessed any of the venues or facilities used by the confirmed cases as announced by the Government or have been in contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients. This includes living in the same buildings as the persons concerned. Please click onto the following link to access the list of affected buildings at the CHP website: https://www.chp.gov.hk/files/pdf/building_list_eng.pdf
We sincerely apologise for the short notice of closure and hope to count on your understanding and support in the interest of the safety of our Members, guests and employees. Members may refer to this website for further updates.
