Update of Clubhouses' Operation and Interim Guest Policy (updated Saturday, 28 November)

In light of the significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases which have included some of our Members, Management has undertaken a further risk assessment to protect the health of our Members and employees and as a result we have had to make some changes to the current operations of our Clubhouses.

  • Closure of Swimming Pools and Changing Rooms at ALL Clubhouses for 7 Days
As such, in view of the continued threat of the high number of local transmissions and the elevated risks associated with Changing Room facilities, the Club has closed ALL Changing Rooms and Swimming Pools with effect from Friday, 27 November for the next 7 days.
  • Interim Guest Policy
In parallel, we will only permit Members and their family members access to the Clubhouses and Happy Valley Racecourse non-race day dining outlets until further notice.
    Note:
Family members are grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren and siblings of HKJC Members

We hope to count on your understanding and support of these measures in the interest of the safety of our Members, guests and employees and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A) Reopening of Happy Valley New and Old Clubhouses (issued Thursday, 26 November)

We are pleased to inform Members that the following facilities at the Happy Valley Old and New Clubhouses, including the Sports Complex will reopen on Friday, 27 November.

New Clubhouse facilities to reopen:

  • Trio
  • The Rock
  • Teppanyaki Issho
  • The Parade and The Epicurean (only from Saturday, 28 November with a temporary operating mode of taking orders at the table and diners to remain seated to avoid unnecessary circulation)
  • The Crest (only for retail; no food and beverage service)
  • LEVADE

The Eighth will commence its formal operation on Wednesday, 2 December as there are still staff medical testing results which have not been returned in relation to one of the reported cases. In line with the current government restrictions, only The Pinnacle and Happy Circles restaurant areas will open whereas the Happy Bar360 Bar and Private Reserve will be closed. Food and beverages will only be served at the tables in the dining areas and not the outdoor terraces.

The Gym will be closed until further notice, due to the reason explained in section B) below. The Sprinkles dine-in area and service counter, The Ring and the 6/F Private Rooms will remain closed until further notice in order to manage resources related to the number of employees in self-isolation following our established policies.

Old Clubhouse facilities to reopen:

  • Six Furlong
  • The Gallop
  • Fortune Room
  • Derby Restaurant
  • Derby Bar (only the lounge area serving food; the Bar area will be closed in line with latest government directives)
  • Sports Complex (only Tennis Courts and Snack Bar)

The Hilltop Swimming Pool, Gym and Six Furlong Express will remain closed due to the timber roof rectification works. All Children’s facilities (indoor and outdoor), the Entertainment Room, Steam and Sauna suites will also be closed as per the recent COVID-19 vigilance directives issued by the government.

We would like to thank Members for their patience and understanding, and look forward to welcoming you back this Friday.

B) Positive Member Case at Happy Valley New Clubhouse (issued Thursday, 26 November)

We have been informed by a Member yesterday whom has been tested positive for COVID-19.  Based on our preliminary investigation, the Member concerned has recently visited the Stables Café, the Valley Gym and 5/F Changing Room on 22 November.

To put the safety of our Members, guests and employees as top priority and allow for the necessary tracing and testing, Stables Cafe, Valley Gym and 5/F Changing Rooms will remain closed until further notice.

This is a necessary arrangement for us to trace and reach out to Members who have come into contact with the Member concerned and complete the medical testings of the employees who have come into similar contact.

As a latest directive, we would like to remind Members or their guests not to use any Club facilities if they live in the same buildings as any confirmed cases as announced by the Government or have been in contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients. The Declaration Form has been updated to reflect this.

We sincerely apologise for the extended closure of some of the facilities and any inconvenience caused. Members may refer to this website for further updates.
