Preliminary Positive Cases at Happy Valley Old Clubhouse and Sports Complex / Recommencement of The Gallop, Six Furlong, The Rock and The Derby Restaurant’s Operations / Latest COVID-19 Measures (issued Thursday, 16 June)

We would like to inform Members that we have received reports from two Members yesterday afternoon and evening that their COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) done on Tuesday, 14 June and Wednesday, 15 June respectively, have returned positive.

The first Member concerned last visited The Gallop in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse from 10:41am – 12:07pm on Sunday, 12 June.

The second Member concerned last visited the Happy Valley Clubhouse Sports Complex and Six Furlong on Tuesday, 14 June. Details are as follows:

  • Visited Sports Complex Male Changing Room from 2:40pm – 2:43pm and from 4:55pm – 5:12pm;
  • Played table tennis in the Squash court from 2:44pm – 4:54pm;
  • Visited Six Furlong in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse from 5:17pm – 6:49pm.

Members who were in close proximity with the two Members concerned on 12 and 14 June will be contacted by our Clubhouse team. We advise Members who visited The Gallop, the Sports Complex and Six Furlong on the aforesaid dates to go for testing if they are concerned about their health.

The deep cleansing to the above-mentioned facilities have been carried out. The Gallop staff who had direct contact with the first Member on 12 June have all returned negative results further to the completion of their PCR tests. Clubhouse staff who had direct contact with the second Member on 14 June will be arranged for the PCR test and undergo self-isolation. They will not be arranged for duty until negative results are returned.

As a precautionary measure, The Gallop, Six Furlong, The Rock and The Derby Restaurant ceased operation under short notice and glad to inform Members that contingent upon the necessary negative PCR test results returned from our staff concerned, the operations will recommence as follows:

  • The Gallop in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse will recommence operation with effect from today, Thursday, 16 June;
  • Six Furlong in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse will recommence operation with effect from tomorrow, Friday, 17 June;
  • The Rock in Happy Valley New Clubhouse will now recommence operation with effect from Saturday, 18 June;
  • The Derby Restaurant in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse will recommence operation with effect from Saturday, 18 June.

Please also note that as per the Government’s latest announcement relating to customers’ RAT requirements in bars/pubs, with effect from tomorrow, Thursday, 16 June, Members and guests visiting Kat O Bar in the Sha Tin Clubhouse, which will operate as a bar, are required to undergo a RAT within 24 hours of visit. Members and guests are required to present a photo showing the RAT kit with negative result, on which the relevant individual’s name as well as the day and time of taking the RAT are marked, before entering Kat O Bar. This RAT requirement does not apply to other Members’ catering outlets currently operating in the Clubhouses and the Racecourses.

In view of the recent increasing trend of the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong, Members are kindly reminded to refrain from visiting Club facilities if they experience common symptoms of COVID-19 or fall within one of the conditions stated in the Conditions of Entry which can be found <here>.
