Dear Owners,

With the start of the Year of the Horse, we are proud to introduce a new monthly feature – The Hong Kong Jockey Club Owner of the Month. This initiative celebrates the dedication and passion of our Owners through the achievements of their horses.

The purpose of Owner of the Month is to recognise Owners who own horses that achieve standout race performances and who actively support and enrich the racing community. In recognising these Owners, we hope to provide insight into the dedication, decision making, and commitment that underpin racing success.

Each month, the Racing Officials will nominate Owners based on a range of horse achievements, including major Group race victories, performance-based rankings, and meaningful milestones that reflect significant achievement in the sport. The selected Owner will receive the Club recognition, an appreciation gift and a feature in the monthly Owners content channels.

For our inaugural award, we are proud to honour Mr Calvin Francis Tien, Owner of STORM RIDER, as our Owner of the Month for January 2026.

On 1 January 2026, STORM RIDER captured the G3 Chinese Club Challenge Cup at Sha Tin, delivering a thrilling performance. The victory adds a Group race success to Mr Tien’s ownership record. Building on this success, STORM RIDER went on to win again in a competitive Class 2 race, bringing his career total to six wins, a rating of 104 and over HK$11 million in prize money.

We celebrate this milestone with Mr Tien and wish him continued success in horse ownership.
