Members have
a rare opportunity to taste seven
fine Burgundy wines, introduced
by guest speaker Howard Palmes,
General Manager of Fine Vintage
(Far East) Limited. The critically
acclaimed wines come from Château
de Chamirey in the commune of
Mercurey, and Domaine des Perdrix
in Nuits-Saint-Georges, both owned
and managed by the Devillard family.
Two whites, both from Château de
Chamirey and both excellent 2012
vintages, will begin the dinner. The
Côte Chalonniase Mercurey Blanc
Premier Cru “La Mission” Monopole,
is an light and airy wine, with a touch
of wood.
Reds include the 2010 Mercurey Premier Cru “Les Cinq”, with an intense smoky nose, and in the mouth, black fruit, minerals and a hint of chocolate.
The main course includes the 2013 Domaine des Perdrix, Vosne Romanée, a masculine wine powerful with notes of spice, and gently jammy stone fruits. Another wine is Domaine des Perdrix 2011 Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru “Aux Perdrix”, full and generous with intense perfumes of dark fruits, followed by the Domaine des Perdrix 2011 Ēchezeaux Grand Cru, a savoury and much sought-after wine with delicate tannins and an aromatic persistance, with the cheese platter.
Early reservations are advised for this remarkable Burgundy event.
