Two families and two wineries will be
brought together at this dinner at the
Horseshoe Grill, with a five-course
menu created by Executive Chef Ellis
Lau for the occasion.
The partnership between
Argentina’s prominent Sielecki family
and highly respected wine maker
Roberto De La Mota has made
Mendel Wines in Mendoza Province
one of the most respected names in
South American wine.
While Mendel is particularly
associated with Malbec, Argentina’s
signature grape, it also produces
impressive blends and other varietal
wines. Four of Mendel’s wines and
two from Bodega el Porvenir de
Cafayete in the province of Salta,
will be introduced by the guest of
honour, Tatiana Sielecki, Mendel’s
Export Manager.
Two Mendel varietal whites will be
served. The Mendel Lunta Torrontes 2014, made from 100% Torrontes
Riojano, is a floral, easy-drinking
wine. The Mendel Semillon 2013,
100% Semillion, is elegantly intense.
The winery is best known for
its Unus collection, an intense
complex blend of Malbec, Cabernet
Sauvignon and Petit Verdot; the
2012 vintage will be presented,
along with the 100% Malbec 2011
Finca Remota that will be served with
the dinner.
Members will also make the
acquaintance of wines from Bodega
El Porvenir de Cafayate, each from a
single vineyard: Laborum Torrontes
Oak-fermented 2012 white wine, and
Laborum Tannat 2015 red.
Early booking is suggested.
