Temporary Closure of All Clubhouses and Happy Valley Racecourse Non-Raceday Restaurants (issued Friday, 11 February)

In view of the rapidly worsening COVID-19 pandemic situation in Hong Kong, the Club has decided to temporarily close all the Clubhouses in Happy Valley, Sha Tin and Beas River, as well as on non-race days, catering premises at the Happy Valley Racecourse, effective from 14 February until 27 February 2022 (both dates inclusive). All takeaway services will stop at 6pm on Sunday, 13 February.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged two years ago, the Club has been adhering to two important guiding principles in how it runs its business activities. Firstly, none of the Club’s business activities shall create any public health risks. Secondly, none of the Club’s business activities shall put the health and safety of our Members, employees and customers at risk. The current fifth wave of COVID-19 pandemic has been widely spreading to all districts in Hong Kong with record high cases reported today and more worryingly, the situation has yet to reach its peak.

In light of this, the Club has made a difficult decision to temporarily close all the Clubhouses for two weeks in an effort to protect Members and keep Clubhouse employees safe at home.

The Club will continue to closely monitor the pandemic situation and accordingly assess whether we will be able to reopen the Clubhouses after two weeks. Further announcement will be made in due course.

The current pandemic situation is Hong Kong’s most severe to date and we deeply appreciate Members’ support and cooperation in overcoming this challenge. On this note, we also extend our sincere apologies to Members for the disruptions to our services and the inconvenience caused.
