Preliminary Positive Employee Case at Happy Valley Clubhouse / Advancement of Closures of All Clubhouses and Happy Valley Non-Raceday Restaurants (issued Saturday, 12 February)

We would like to inform Members that we have today received a report that a kitchen employee who works at the Six Furlong in Happy Valley Clubhouse has been tested positive after taking the Rapid Antigen test at home. He has been arranged to take further testing in hospital.

The employee concerned worked on 9, 10 and 11 February. He performed his duties at the back of house and has not come into contact with any Members and guests. Other employees who came into contact with the employee concerned have been identified and will also go for testings. To date, there is a large population of employees at Happy Valley Clubhouse who have been de-rostered from work because of testings or isolation. Further, we are receiving reports from other employees who were close contacts of preliminary positive COVID-19 cases.

Given the rapidly evolving pandemic situation in Hong Kong with a record high of infected cases today, in order to protect Members and employees, the Club has decided to advance the closures of all Clubhouses and the Happy Valley Racecourse’s non-raceday restaurants to 6pm tonight – Saturday, 12 February. The take-away food services will also stop accordingly. Members with reservations in restaurants and chalets will be contacted by our respective management teams for alternative arrangements.

We would like to express our sincere apologies for this short notice and the inconvenience it may cause. It was a most difficult decision to advance the closures to today but we are obliged to do so in the interest of the health and safety of our Members, employees and staff. We hope to count on Members’ support and understanding during this challenging period.
