Preliminary Positive Employee Cases and Temporary Closure of The Provincial and The Racing Club’s Hong Kong Kitchen at Happy Valley Racecourse (Non-raceday) (issued Monday, 18 July)

We have received reports from four employees that their COVID-19 tests done on Sunday, 17 July and Monday, 18 July respectively, have returned positive. As a precautionary measure, Provincial and The Racing Club’s Hong Kong Kitchen at Happy Valley Racecourse will cease operation with immediate effect from today, Monday, 18 July. Members with reservations will be contacted for alternative arrangements.

The first employee concerned is a kitchen staff and was recently on duty in Provincial at Happy Valley Racecourse (non-raceday) on Thursday, 14 July and Friday, 15 July, and in Members’ Box 7/F (Winning Post) in Happy Valley Racecourse during race meeting (cross-betting) on Saturday, 16 July. He had taken Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before reporting for duty on 14, 15, 16 and 17 July and only returned positive yesterday.

The second employee concerned is also a kitchen staff and was recently on duty in Provincial at Happy Valley Racecourse (non-raceday) on Friday, 15 July and Sunday, 17 July, and in Members’ Box 4/F (Hong Kong Sixties) in Sha Tin Racecourse during race meeting on Saturday, 16 July. He had taken Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before reporting for duty on 15, 16, 17 and 18 July and only returned positive this morning.

The third employee concerned is a service staff and was recently on duty in The Racing Club’s Dining Room and Hong Kong Kitchen at Happy Valley Racecourse (non-raceday) on Thursday, 14 July, in The Racing Club’s Hong Kong Kitchen on Friday, 15 July, and in The Racing Club’s Sha Tin Box D510 in Sha Tin Racecourse during race meeting on Saturday, 16 July. He had taken Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before reporting for duty on 14, 15 and 16 July with negative results. His PCR test conducted on Sunday, 17 July has returned positive today.

The fourth employee concerned is a kitchen staff of Fortune Room. He was identified as close contact of his family case and has undergone self-isolation since Thursday, 14 July. His PCR test conducted on Sunday, 17 July had returned positive. He was recently on duty in Fortune Room at Happy Valley Old Clubhouse on Wednesday, 13 July and he had taken Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before reporting for duty on 13 July with negative result.

We advise Members who visited Provincial, Winning Post, Dining Room and Hong Kong Kitchen in Happy Valley Racecourse, Hong Kong Sixties and Sha Tin Box D510 in Sha Tin Racecourse and Fortune Room in Happy Valley Old Clubhouse on the aforesaid dates to go for testing if they are concerned about their health. We will further apprise Members about the reopening date.
