New initiatives to lower cost of Horse Ownership
The Club has a long-standing commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s racehorse Owners, recognising their investment in high-quality horses is fundamental to Hong Kong’s world-class racing. Considering the current difficult general economic conditions which face Owners, the Club has developed a package of measures designed to significantly reduce the cost of Horse Ownership. From the commencement of the 2024/25 season, the following three initiatives will be implemented:
Added together the three measures represent a HK$140 million investment by the Club in lowering the cost of ownership. These measures complement the action taken by the Club over the past decade to invest in prize money to reward Owners’ investment. Over the past decade, prize money has been increased nearly 100% with prize money and incentives schemes totalling an estimated HK$1.73 billion on offer for the 2023/24 racing season.
Horse ballot applications close at 5pm on Thursday, 25 April 2024. Application forms are available at the Reception Counter of the Hong Kong Jockey Cub Headquarters at One Sports Road, Happy Valley and the Clubhouses.
