Lending a Helping Hand

Hong Kong has a strong tradition of volunteering. To encourage even more people to reach out to those in need, the Club’s Charities Trust launched its JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER initiative in April last year. The initiative includes support for six new awards under the Hong Kong Volunteer Award scheme, co-organised by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Agency for Volunteer Service.

Joining this year’s Hong Kong Volunteer Award presentation ceremony, Club Steward Ann Kung offered her congratulations to awardees, commending them for setting an example to the public through their selfless contributions.

The six new awards supported by the Club recognise a broad spectrum of volunteers for their outstanding contributions to the cause, including the elderly, new participants and schools.

JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER, initiated and funded by the Charities Trust, has already attracted over 70,000 volunteers. Working in collaboration with 12 partner organisations, this initiative encourages and mobilises students, families, working adults, people aged 50 and above and retirees to volunteer their time. The project has also created a platform to help residents find volunteering opportunities and keep track of the activities they have participated in.

The Club acts continuously for the betterment of our society. It has supported many volunteer projects over the years and helped many charities and agencies recruit and train volunteers, bringing hope and care to those in need. Over the last 10 years, more than 4.5 million people have benefited from volunteer projects supported by the Club’s Charities Trust.
