Lai See and Gifts (issued Tuesday, 21 January)

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all staff for Members’ contribution to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund. This tangible recognition of their dedicated service is very truly appreciated.

As we approach the excitement and joy of the Chinese New Year, we know that Members may also wish to share the season’s happiness directly with staff by the giving of “lai see” red packets as a token of appreciation. We honour the sentiment behind this traditional custom of thankfulness, that is as rewarding for the giver as the receiver.

The giving of lai see is entirely discretionary; Members’ appreciation for our staff has already been more than amply demonstrated through the annual contribution to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund. However, should Members wish to participate in this activity, please know that our employees working at Clubhouses and Racecourses in both Hong Kong and the Mainland are permitted to accept lai see within the first 15 days of Chinese New Year, that is from 29 January to 12 February 2025. For Members’ information, any employee who receives a lai see of more than $500 will contribute any amount above $500 to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund, in the festive spirit of togetherness and shared blessings.
