Completion of the Hong Chi Jockey Club Pinehill Village Project
Hong Kong residents with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities face an average wait of 10 years for a hostel place. The newly completed Village project, which had its naming ceremony on 6 October, is helping to address this shortfall, with Hong Chi Association now able to offer more than 1,100 service spaces, up from some 200 before.
The new Hong Chi Jockey Club Pinehill Day Activity and Residential Complex and the Hong Chi Jockey Club Pinehill Vocational Training Complex provide a diverse range of services to help improve the lives and social skills of people with intellectual disabilities and to enhance their occupational skills in preparation for employment.
The project also inlcudes the Hong Chi Jockey Club Pinehill Pre-school and Children Service Complex, which opened in 2017 to provide childcare and early education for children aged up to six with the aim of improving their readiness for learning and lifelong development.
