Memories Through Innovation
  • The Jockey Club “How Memory Sticks 2.0” Arts Tech and Culture Education Programme combines innovative technology with traditional arts and culture to open up new ways to engage with Chinese history and heritage
  • Featuring workshops, guided tours, multimedia displays, technology-based teaching kits and augmented reality (AR) bus tours, the programme aims to attract over 300,000 mass attendance

To foster Hong Kong citizens’ interest in Chinese arts, culture and history, the Club’s Charities Trust is funding a three-year project organised by the Design and Cultural Studies Workshop.

The programme caters to primary and secondary school students and teachers, non-Chinese speaking students as well as the general public. All primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong can register online for free.

Teaching kits incorporating AR, virtual reality (VR), aerial photography and 3D printing technologies have been designed to enhance the motivation and interest of students. There is also a bilingual teaching material package for non-Chinese speaking students.

Educational workshops provide insights into traditional Chinese arts and culture, while on-site guided tours enable visitors to learn more about historic sites.

A special AR Bus provides tours on over 10 selected routes. By scanning QR codes and AR marks, passengers can access stories about ancient and modern life and explore virtual representations of traditional villages, heritage buildings and public housing from different eras. They can even transform themselves into rural and urban characters and share their experiences on social media.
