  1. Why did the Hong Kong Jockey Club establish the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team?

     

    The Hong Kong Jockey Club has a long-standing commitment to serving the community. In March 2011, the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team was established to provide our Members with the same platform through which they can contribute to the community. Our aim is to become a reputable volunteer team that actively serves those in need.

  4. What kinds of services are offered by the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team?

     

    The Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team is committed to serving different local target groups including the elderly, children and young people.

    The volunteer team co-operates with local organisations and participates in activities that meet the special needs of local target groups. Examples include elderly home visits and gatherings, festive parties, and visits to educational venues such as riding schools and heritage trails.

     

  5. Who can join the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team?

     

    All Hong Kong Jockey Club Members and their spouses are welcome to join the volunteer team.

     

  6. Upon registration as a member of the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team, do I have to join all activities?

     

    Members of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team are not required to join all activities. Members can choose to register only in activities that suit their schedule or interests.

     

  7. How long does each Members’ CARE@hkjc activity last?

     

    The duration of each activity will depend on the type of activity itself. For example, a visit to an elderly person’s home will take around 3 to 4 hours and this includes a briefing, the actual visit and a review session. A programme rundown for each activity will be available when the activity is open for registration.

     

  8. How can I get the latest information on Members’ CARE@hkjc activities?

     

    The latest information on CARE@hkjc activities can be found in Badges magazine and on member.hkjc.com. Team members can also choose to receive the information by email.

     

  9. Upon registration as a member of the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team, what kind of activities can I join?

     

    In general, the Members' CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team organises different types of activities, namely volunteer service training; handicraft sessions; cookie-making sessions; elderly home visits and gatherings; festive parties; and visits to educational venues.

     

  10. Can I bring my friends or family when I participate in the volunteer services?

     

    Friends and family of Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team members are welcome to join in but depending on the capacity of the venue and the ratio of volunteers versus service targets, quotas could be set for each activity. In the case where there are more volunteers than required, we might not be able to allow team members to bring their friends or family as priority will be given to other members of the volunteer team.

     

  11. Do we need to pay a fee to become a member of the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team?

     

    No, Members are not required to pay any fees to join the Members’ CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team or its activities.

     

  12. Do we need to arrange for our own transportation when attending a Members’ CARE@hkjc activity?

     

    Transport arrangements vary depending on the number of participants and the venue location for each activity but in general, coaches will be arranged.

     

  13. Do we need to wear a uniform when participating in a Members’ CARE@hkjc activity?

     

    All participants are required to wear the Members’ CARE t-shirt and windbreaker when participating in the activities.

     

  14. Do I get insurance coverage when I join a Members’ CARE@hkjc activity?

     

    Yes, all participants of Members’ CARE@hkjc activities are insured.
